Tell us who you are and what you do at the Brewery?
My name is Richard and I’ve been working at St Austell Brewery for two and a half years. As a Design Assistant, I support our tenanted pubs with designing printed materials, ranging from menus to marketing materials for events.
What did you do before your job?
Before the Brewery, I worked for a company that ran coffee shops, bars and pubs, in a similar role to this. Before that, I studied Illustration at University and Graphic Design at college. Working for a large established company like St Austell Brewery felt like a great step up in my career so accepting the job was a no-brainer. It’s great to be working in such a supportive environment and it’s closer to home!
What do you love about your job?
The Marketing team and the Design team within that all get on brilliantly – we have a great work ethic, but also have a real laugh! The job itself is really interesting in that I work for the tenants of our varied estate, so no job is the same and I get to be very creative. I get a lot of return business too, so I really feel that I’m a beneficial resource for our tenants.
Describe the company culture
I find that everyone in the company is friendly and approachable, which makes a huge difference to my day-to-day working life. I think one of the real qualities of the company is how personable everyone is from the top down. It’s great to know that I’m part of a forward thinking company, that’s always looking to expand and better itself. I can definitely see myself being here for a long time.
